Income eligibility for the Housing Choice Voucher and Public Housing Programs is determined by income limits established by the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) annually for Clearwater. A family's total annual income must not exceed the low income amount guidelines of 80% if the area median income effective March 2008:

2 Persons in Household - $36,150

3 Persons in Household - $40,700

4 Persons in Household - $45,200

5 Persons in Household - $48,800

6 Persons in Household - $52,450


HOUSING CHOICE VOUCHER PROGRAM

This Program, also known as Section 8, is designed to allow flexibility and mobility to low income families in their housing choices within the city limits of Clearwater. Participants pay only a portion of the rent, based on income. The balance is then guaranteed to the owner from Clearwater Housing Authority.

The CHA public housing program provides federally subsidized rental properties. Residents pay only a portion of the rent based on income. alph Richards Tower is subsidized housing for seniors, the disabled and handicapped. This attractive seven story building with 50 apartments offers one and two bedroom apartments. Located near the beaches, public transportation, and a soon to be Town Pond and Park.

arbee Towers provides 150 one-bedroom apartments of subsidized housing for seniors, the disabled and handicapped. This twelve story high rise stands amid massive oak trees. Residents enjoy its convenient location to the beaches, public transportation, shopping and many other activities.

The remaining units are restricted to moderate income, while the entire community is restricted by an income cap.

Close to the beaches, transportation and shopping, Mainstreet offers a luxurious home setting. Twenty percent of the units are set aside for people of moderate to low income and the entire community is restricted by an income cap.
